Everything is your home is nice and clean and you are proud to have friends over. Then one day you notice an ant. No worries, it’s probably just one scout ant, right? Then the next day you notice another. Then you notice three, then four and the number grows. What do you do?
“The key is not panic,” says Brad, who works for pest control in Brevard County Florida. “those may very well be scout ants. But they are a sign that ants are immediately around your home and it may be to take action.”
He laid out the following tips for us:
1. Make sure there are no easy pathways for pests to enter the home. Repair holes in screens and any gaps in the foundation right away.
2. Make sure there is nothing enticing the ants to come in. Is there a packet of half-eaten cookies your son forgot about under his bed?
3. Assess how bad it is and make the right decision. If they keep coming then you may need to hire a pest control expert.
How Does a Pest Control Expert Help?
The pest control agent will spray some barriers on the inside your home but he will will also check for hidden mounds outside the home. He will essentially attack the problem both inside and outside.
Plus, your pest control agent will be able to identify the type of ant and know how to treat your problem. If you don’t know what kind of ant you are running into then your efforts may be time-consuming and fruitless.
Finally get on a regular maintenance plan with the pest control agent. They can come by once per month to make sure everything is working the way it is supposed to. Eliminating pest problems is what these guys spend an entire career doing and they are efficient.
